Fencing practice:
Every Monday/Wednesday evening and Sunday session at the YMCA includes time for
fencing with other members of the club. You can typically find people willing to
engage with foil and epee, and occasionally with sabers. The club has the
scoring systems for electric weapons.

Instruction:
Several bouts can take place at the same time, with other members acting as
referees and judges. The club has three active instructors who provide group and
individual instruction at every session.

All ages:
Anchorage Fencing Club members range in age from youngsters just old enough to
hold a weapon at arm's length to those with a few more years behind them.

Drill line:
Training sessions are held in groups using what we call a drill line. The
emphasis is on form and footwork.

The historical perspective:
Swords have been a part of history for hundreds of years, and are still worn by
military officers in ceremonial uniforms. Anchorage Fencing Club members have
given demonstrations at various community events, Renaissance Faires, and other
activities.

Armorer's skill:
Swords, particularly electric swords, require regular maintenance. Part of the
sport is learning how to assemble, repair and maintain the various types of
swords and other fencing equipment.
